Role Description
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive DevOps professional who is looking to take ownership of infrastructure and cloud platforms within a growing technology environment.
Reporting to the Infrastructure and Operations leadership, the Senior DevOps Systems Administrator will play a key role in designing, deploying, automating, and supporting Britannic’s hybrid cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on role that combines technical leadership, automation, reliability, and security, with the opportunity to influence how systems are built and operated across the business.
Role Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and support scalable infrastructure across AWS and private cloud environments
Architect and maintain robust hybrid cloud solutions that support business growth and high availability
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions (or similar tooling) to enable safe and efficient deployments
Implement and maintain observability and monitoring solutions, including Grafana, Prometheus, and AWS CloudWatch
Manage and secure cloud and network environments, including IAM, firewalls, VPNs, and hybrid networking
Participate in an on-call rota and respond to incidents, ensuring timely resolution and system resilience
Collaborate with development and engineering teams to improve system reliability, security, and performance
Produce and maintain clear technical documentation to support best practices and knowledge sharing
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a DevOps or Systems Administration role
Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments
Experience working with hybrid cloud or private cloud platforms such as VMware or Proxmox
Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu-based systems preferred)
Infrastructure automation using Terraform and Ansible
CI/CD pipeline development and management (e.g. GitHub Actions or similar)
Containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (e.g. EKS)
Scripting experience using Bash, Python, or Go
Networking and cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, firewalls, and VPNs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Additionally: Excellent written and verbal communications skills, both when dealing with technical and non-technical audiences, are also essential for this role.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Knowledge/experience of the following would prove advantageous for this role:
AWS certifications
Security scanning and vulnerability tools such as Trivy
Advanced Kubernetes management and GitOps tools (e.g. ArgoCD)
Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical systems
